For smaller jobs, we have written a powerful web application which can create customized reports from any ODBC-enabled datasource such as Oracle, SQL Server, mySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS Access. The HTML interface and code can easily be adjusted to match specific requirements and allows "push-button" reports in MS Excel from a local or remote databases, based on user-entered parameters as needed. It's faster and more flexible than generating Excel reports through e.g. Crystal Reports, and no licenses to buy.
